Karen is the founder and Managing Director of K2C Associates. She is a seasoned entrepreneurial professional with a track record of new product/program launches, technology transfer & commercialization, and new business line growth for innovations with national security and commercial applications. Karen brings more than 25 years of experience working as a federal R&D contract capture manager, government program manager, and commercial product development across a diverse S&T portfolio in national security (defense, intelligence, information assurance, homeland security), transportation, energy, environmental, and enterprise IT market segments.
Previous to founding K2C, Karen worked corporate development, strategy, R&D and new product development programs for Battelle Memorial Institute and Raytheon. Previous to defense tech, Karen founded a homeland security consulting firm where she managed transportation security innovation projects in a post- 9-11 environment. During this time, Karen became an expert in the capture and management of US federal and state funding and contracts for new technology deployments. Early in her career, Karen discovered her passion for distruptive technologies while working as a Research Associate at Harvard Business School and an Environmental Scientist with CDM Smith.
Karen received her B.S. in Environmental Systems Technology from the Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department of Cornell University and her MBA in Entrepreneurship from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College. Karen currently serves as the Vice President of Women in Defense Greater Boston Chapter (WID-GBC) and is a STEM mentor with the Girl Scouts.
